Santa Monica College students place colored dots were they would like to see environmental improvements at SMC during the EcoFabulous Event on Tuesday. The event was sponsored by the SMC Associated Students, SMC Center for Environmental and Urban Studies, SMC Eco-Action Club and Sustainable Works. Speakers included SMC president Dr. Chui L. Tsang, Santa Monica Mayor Richard Bloom, Santa Monica City Councilman Kevin McKeown and keynote speaker Paul Scott, who talked about the benefits of solar energy.

Bikerowave

Alex Thompson, co-founder of Bikerowave and Ryan Mallery, a volunteer, promote their new co-op 'do-it-yourself' bicycle repair shop during the EcoFabulous Event on Tuesday. Bikerowave is a nonprofit organization with an all volunteer staff of local bikers who share their expertise and equipment. The bike repair facility, with use of tools is available for a $5.00 per hour rental charge.

Fiction writer Dyland Landis, reads excerpt from her novel 'Floorwork'  during the 'Santa Monica Review : Celebrating 20 Years'  at SMC on Thursday, April 19, 2007. Santa Monica College’s national literary arts journal, published twice yearly, showcases the literary voices of established authors and emerging writers. Founded by SMC English instructor Jim Krusoe (Blood Lake, Iceland), the Review has presented readers experimental, thoughtful, and funny works of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, interviews, and essays—including works by well-known authors such as Gary Soto, Lynn Freed and Alan Cheuse—during its nearly 20 years of publication, and has achieved a reputation as one of the West Coast’s leading journals.
