Detectives and police investigate the scene early Thursday in Venice where Santa Monica police officers fatally shot a man who fired on them with a shotgun and led them on a pursuit in a stolen car.Police closed off a portion of Michigan Avenue, between Lincoln Boulevard and 11th Street, the scene of a carjacking early Thursday. The suspect abandoned this white van, then stole a Dodge Shadow at gunpoint. The suspect was shot dead by police about 30 minutes later in Venice.
