Survivors' lap: Wearing purple t-shirts, cancer survivors kicked-off  the 2006 American Cancer Society Relay For Life - 24 hour walk at Santa Monica College's Corsair Field on Saturday July 29, 2006. The American Cancer Society Relay For Life is an international event,  organized to raise money for cancer research and education. To help accomplish that goal, teams walked laps around the track all day Saturday and continued throughout the night ending  Sunday morning  at  9am.
