Dukes Car Show and Toy Drive
Ernie Bravo puts a gift into a 1956 Ford during the Fourth Annual Dukes Car Show and Toy Drive at the Santa Monica Pier on Saturday, November 8, 2008.The car show entry fee was a toy which will benefit the Santa Monica Police Activity League. The Toys will be distributed during the PAL annual Holiday Workshop in December.

The Zero X has a range of 40 miles per two-hour charge. Typical cost per recharge is less than $.01 per mile. The Zero X is no toy. It's a full powered off-road motorcycle with unmatched performance and durability. The motorcycle has all the performance of a traditional gas dirt bike, but without all of the noise, pollution and maintenance hassle. Best of all, the Zero X opens up all kinds of riding opportunities where noise is a problem. (2) Jim Corning, founder of Prometheus Systems, promotes his conceptual electronic motorcycle during the expo. Jackman, Santa Monica Mayor Herb Katz and Mayor Pro Tem Richard Bloom take a ride on the new Sand Tram. 3) Santa Monica Fire Chief Jim Hone and Jean McNeil Wyner, Community & Physician Liaison of Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center and Orthopaedic Hospital, ride back-to-back during the test drive. 4,5) Community leaders, local personalities, and centennial celebration organizers enjoy the ride over Santa Monica Beach. The prototype Sand Tram, a 60-foot-long beach trolley capable of carrying 100-plus passengers, typifies the Centennial’s theme of “100 years in the past, 100 years in the future.” The natural gas powered vehicle will travel on the sand and transport beachgoers between the parking lots, the Pier, and the new Annenberg Beach House; restoring popular beachfront transportation once provided by electric trams until the 1960s.
