Victoria Secret protest
Santa Monica residents protest Thursdays outside of the Victoria's Secret store on the third street promenade, as the store manager looks on. Protesters took issue with the company's alleged use of paper from the Canadian Boreal forest for its catalogs. The protest was part of more than a hundred demonstrations stage nation wide. The group called on the retailer to instead use post-consumer recycled content in its catalogs. Limited Brand, which owns Victoria Secret, countered that it was proud of its environmental achievements, claiming Victoria Secret Catalogs-some 24 million-are now printed on 100 percent recycled paper, 80 percent of which is post consumer.
