Santa Monica Fire Department recruits remove the windshield and doors from a Mercedes Benz with the 'Jaws of Life'  during an extrication drill at the SMFD Fire Training Academy on Wednesdaym, Feb. 21, 2007. The recruits are going through an intense one year training program consisting of 2 months at the academy and 10 months in the field before becoming official firefighters.
