Promenade gone wild

(1,2) Orion Comstock, Director of Herpetology for Star Eco Station, shows-off  XO, a six-year-old, 60 pound and 17 foot long Reticulated Python (Python reticulatus) during "Earth Day" at the Third Street Promenade on Saturday, April 12, 2008. Reticulated Python is the longest existing snake a can grow up to 30 feet in length. The species is relatively slender and long, and therefore not the largest. (3,4) Benjamin Cohen, 3, examines Tank, 9, an African Spur Thigh Tortoise  (Sulcata) during Earth Day at the Third Street Promenade. Sulcatas are strict vegetarians and are considered grazers in the wild.  Their diet consists mainly of weeds and grasses in nature.
