The Museum of Flying
James Babinski cleans a 1944 Howard Aircraft DGA-15 at the The Museum of Flying on Friday, February 24, 2012, in preparation of tomorrows grand opening celebration. A ribbon-cutting ceremony and grand opening to the public will take place on Saturday, February 25th at 10:00 am. The Museum will offer $5 admission for everyone (children 5 and under are free) and special giveaways awarded by random drawing for visitors who arrive throughout the day

The Hangar One Vodka blimp flies above Santa Monica on Thursday, December 29, 2011.The blimp is on a twenty-city, cross-country journey, landing at planned destinations along the way in order to host bartender “mix offs” using their hand-crafted vodka as the key ingredient.

A single-engine Cessna 172 crashed into a home at the corner of 21st Street and Navy Street after taking off from Santa Monica Airport on Monday, August 29, 2011. The house was unoccupied at the time of the crash, however, there were several workers painting it. The painters were able to pull the pilot from the wreckage. The pilot sustained a fractured leg and one of the painters was injured by debris. The pilot and painter were both transported to local hospitals and are in stable condition. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) & the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are handling the investigation..
