(2) Santa Monica Council Member Robert Holdbrook drives his Model T down Main Street with his wife Jean Ann and fellow Santa Monica Council Member Bobby Shriver during the Independence Day parade. (3) Participants from Liberty Tax Services represent the Statue of Liberty. (4) Members of the Lighthouse Church walk down Main Street during the Parade. (5) The Santa Monica High School Marching Band performs during the Parade. (6, 7) The SMPD Mounted Police Unit ride their horses down Main Street. Chanukah, AKA the Festival of Lights, is a joyous celebration of the victory of the Maccabees and the rededication of the Jerusalem Temple. It also commemorates the miracle of the oil that burned for 8 days when there was only enough oil left in the temple for one day.
