Children help paint Artist David Legaspi’s Ocean-Themed mural at Franklin Elementary School on Saturday, September 3, 2011. This mural is just part of a bigger courtyard remodeling project in the school featuring new tables, awnings and landscaping. The Courtyard remodeling project is sponsored by the Grazer family.

La Monica Revisited

Designer John King (left) from Artisan Design and John Emshwiller paint a mural entitled, " La Monica Revisited" at the Santa Monica Pier on Friday, May 13, 2011. The mural depicts a scene of the old La Monica Ballroom and Muscle Beach morphing into today's Pacific Park. 1st Grade students from Grant Elementary and volunteers from UCLA helped paint the mural. The mural replaces the decaying children's art mural near the parking lot entrance of Pacific Park and was commissioned by the Santa Monica Pier Restoration Corporation.

Wyland

Pacific Park maintenance crew takes down Robert Wyland's environmental mural, "Years of The Ocean,' (1998 - 17 Panels - 11 feet tall by 64 feet wide) on Wednesday, January 7, 2009, due to remodeling. Robert Wyland (born. 1956 in Detroit, Michigan), known simply as Wyland, is an artist best known for painting large, outdoor murals of whales and other ocean life. Wyland’s art has the unique ability to transform all who view it to a greater awareness. By bridging the worlds of art and science, his work inspires people of all ages to become better stewards of our oceans and precious water resources. Wyland has 100 Whaling Wall murals scattered throughout the world.
