Hat Designer Jaynee Novak sports her hand-made "Crown of Peace" Chapeau featuring a live white dove at Rose Avenue on Sunday, August 5, 2012. Novak shows her line of hats on the weekends at the Venice Boardwalk at Dudley Ave. "We have to make sense (cents) before we make dollars.Maybe PEACE is the answer," said Novak while while flashing the peace sign.

Festival of Chariots
Harre Krishna's hand-pull three fully decorated, 40-foot tall “chariots" along the Venice Boardwalk during the 36th Annual Festival of Chariots on Sunday, August 5, 2012. The Festival of the Chariots featured free feast for thousands, free entertainment, exhibits and booths all bringing together the finest in Indian culture. The festival celebrates Lord Jagannatha, the Lord of the Universe, and is put on by the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON). The Festival of the Chariots is now performed in every country across the world and dates back 5 thousand years to Jagannatha Puri, India.

Swimmers run into the chilly Pacific Ocean during the 51th Annual Venice Penguin Swim on New Years Day- Saturday, January 1, 2011, at the Venice Beach Breakwater. The 2011 Penguin Swim featured more than 80 participants, three-foot waves, and sunny 57° degree weather, with a water temperature of 58°degrees.
