The Human Juke Box
Santa Monica College student and a member of the Latin Student Union, Jose Sanchez, 19, AKA 'The Human Juke Box' plays songs for a dollar via his Ipod and portable speakers during SMC's Club Row Festival on Thursday, May 17, 2007. The annual event is designed for many clubs at SMC to recruit members and raise funds. Club participants set up colorful booths across the Library Walkway, where they discussed their activities to prospective members and attract a multitude of students with promises of food and prizes. The event turned out new club devotees and at least a spark of interest in many others.

MAKE A NEW PLAN: Santa Monica College president Dr. Chui L. Tsang, encourages students to ride the Santa Monica Big Blue Bus to the SMC campus during the EcoFabulous Event on Tuesday, April 24, 2007. Dr. Tsang, said that there are plans in the works to offer free rides on the Big Blue Bus for SMC students. The event featured an environmental fair, speakers, free organic food and prizes and the release of the 2005-06 SMC Environmental Audit. The event was sponsored by the SMC Associated Students, SMC Center for Environmental and Urban Studies, SMC Eco-Action Club and Sustainable Works. Speakers included SMC president Dr. Chui L. Tsang, Santa Monica Mayor Richard Bloom, Santa Monica City Councilman Kevin McKeown and keynote speaker Paul Scott, who talked about the benefits of solar energy.
