Saint John's Santa Monica 5000

(1) Phillip Reid, 22, (number 44 in the center) who hails from San Luis Obispo, leads the pack during the Third annual Saint John's Santa Monica 5000 on Sunday, October 19, 2008. Reid came in first place in the 5K event with a time of 13:99 and won $1,500 for his first place finish, along with a $300 time bonus for breaking 14:20. Money raised from the event supports programs at the hospital.(2) Runners warm up with some stretches before the race. (3) Master Yoga Instructor Rainbeau Mars, awards Reid with the first place plaque. Saint John’s Health Center provides exceptional care to families from over 41 zip codes in Santa Monica and throughout greater Los Angeles. It is the hospital of choice for physicians with national reputations in cancer, orthopedics, cardiac care emergency care and women’s health services. 2008 Muscle Beach Labor Day Bodybuilding Championship







1) Dean Ash, 31, (left) who hails from England, hits a most muscular pose during the 2008 Muscle Beach Labor Day Bodybuilding Championship at Venice Beach on September 1, 2008. Ash won the overall 2008 Muscle Beach Labor Day Bodybuilding Championship. 2) Dean Ash, 31, (left) and Thorsten Vosgerau, 42, who hails from Germany,  pose-off during the competition. 3) Dean Ash, 31, (left) and Rich Draizin, 40, (right) hit a front lat spread pose during the show. 4) Thorsten Vosgerau, 42, and his wife Jutta, 48, who hail from Germany, go through their synchronized posing routine.  They won the mixed pair competition division. 5) Ashley Butts, 22, poses during the Bodybuilding Championship. Butts won first place in the woman's novice division. This was her first time to compete. 6) James Butts, (center) former Santa Monica Police Chief and the current Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA)  Deputy Executive Director of Airport Law Enforcement & Protection Services, awards first place in the woman's novice division to his daughter Ashley (left).
